Thanet District Coucil
Kent-based Network & Cabling Solutions (NCS) Ltd, today announced that it had installed a new presentation system for Thanet District Council.
The system was installed in the Chambers building in Thanet’s main District offices in Margate, Kent. The purpose of the new system is to improve the way in which planning presentations and council committee meetings are given, allowing attendees to see in more detail plans, illustrations and photographs often associated within a planning or building application.
Manufactured by NEC, the system consists of a large screen, which has been positioned at the front of the Chambers building, which can accommodate some 200 people. There is a high-resolution short-throw projector, which is canter-levered directly in front of the screen to ensure the maximum visibility and a speaker system for clear and correct audio levels.
Head of Development Services for Thanet District Council, Brian White commented: “The system has been a complete success for us, with Planning Committee meetings now far more meaningful and productive for all participants. We can now do away with the paper plans that only a handful of people could view at any one time and instead, project large, detailed drawings and images onto the screen for clearer visibility and understanding, which helps the quality of debate and discussion.
“The new system’s audio capability also means when we have larger forums or meetings, attendees can use our smaller committee room in the Council offices where Network and Cabling installed an additional Projector and electric screen, and still feel part of the meeting – it has transformed the way we run these meetings,” Brian White added.
NCS installed the system over a period of a week. They then provided detailed training for the council members who use the system. The company also provides an on-going service and maintenance contract to the Council to ensure maximum operability.
Thanet District Council serves the beautiful coastal towns and villages in East Kent; including Broadstairs, Margate, Ramsgate and Minster, providing an array of services to over 127,000 residents.
Thanet boasts seven Blue Flags for its beaches, there are also exciting plans for the new Turner Contemporary and the new high-speed rail link to London will take the journey time to the capital to just over an hour by 2009.
